The Awakening Consciousness Spectrum
Something extraordinary is happening inside you right now — and you may not even know it.
It might arrive as an explosion — a bolt of energy surging up your spine, erupting through the crown of your head, flooding your awareness with blinding white-gold light. It might shake your body with spontaneous movements you didn’t choose — kriyas that arch your back, lock your breath, or move your hands into positions you’ve never learned. It might fill your inner hearing with celestial music or a roar like a thousand rivers. It might ignite colors behind your closed eyes that no painter has ever mixed — living geometries of light pulsing with intelligence and beauty.
Or it might come as a whisper. A vibrational charge gathering at the base of your spine. A tingling in your hands during meditation. A wave of emotion so vast and so tender that tears come for no reason. A dream so vivid it felt more real than the room you woke up in. A moment of silence so deep that your ordinary sense of who you are simply fell away — and what remained was pure, luminous awareness.
You may have dismissed it. You may have been told to ignore it. You may have spent years wondering what it was.
This entire spectrum — from the thunderbolt to the whisper — is Kundalini Shakti. The living power of consciousness awakening within you. The same force that created the universe, alive and moving inside your body right now.
And it is the center of everything I teach.
“When fire enters iron, it does not remain just iron. Similarly, when Kundalini Shakti awakens in human beings, they do not remain mere human beings. They become filled with divine love, divine powers, and divine virtues.”
Vāyavīya Saṁhitā, Shiva Purana (Uttara-bhāga, chapters 37–38)
Kundalini Shakti is not merely an energy that rises through the spine. It is not a technique. It is not a symptom to be managed or a sensation to be chased. It is the consciousness of the universe itself — flowing through your body, your breath, your mind, your emotions, your dreams, your deepest meditation, and every dimension of your existence. When it stirs, perception expands. When it deepens, identity loosens. When it flowers, reality itself is reinterpreted. And when it reaches its fullest expression, consciousness recognizes itself — not as a concept, but as a lived, unshakable, permanent recognition of what you have always been.
I know this because it has been happening in me since I was nineteen years old.
It exploded without warning — a golden-white energy gathering at the base of my spine, rising through the center of my body, erupting through the crown of my head. In that instant, my awareness separated from my physical body. I found myself hovering above my childhood home, fully conscious, fully alive, and made of light. That was the first time Kundalini Shakti showed me that I was not what I thought I was. It was not the last. It has never stopped. Nearly fifty years later, the currents are constant. I feel them as I write these words. Sometimes I joyfully have to turn them down just to function in ordinary life — knowing that I can always turn it up again when I want to. This is part of the freedom that I experience.
That awakening sent me searching. I found a book by a Kundalini Shaktipat master who was also a master of Nondual Shaiva Tantra and Vedanta — and recognized his face from a vision I’d had in meditation. I sold my car, my beloved 1972 Firebird, for $1,600, bought a one-way ticket, and at twenty-one flew to India to train under Swami Muktananda. I was ordained as Swami Jnanananda Saraswati in one of the oldest monastic orders on earth. I spent years traveling back and forth between India and the West, plunging into the depths of Nondual Shaiva Tantra, the ancient tradition that gave me the language to understand what Kundalini Shakti had already been doing within me.
And then, after deep contemplation and prayer, I lovingly put away my ochre robes and returned home to live in the world. I married my angel of a wife. I raised a family. I earned a degree in psychology, magna cum laude, and a Master’s in Educational Technology. I taught psychology and comparative religion for over thirty years. I worked as a mental health therapist in a psychiatric ward for three years — where I learned firsthand what happens when powerful spiritual experiences arrive without grounding and integration.
But through all of it — the teaching, the parenting, the living of a fully human life — I never stopped practicing. Every morning and every evening, I plunge into multidimensional worlds and deep meditation states. I return and reassemble the memories I have of myself back into my daily life as Don Lee Daniels. And I continue to live in this world, both the inner and the outer, happily, joyously, and fully. The inner worlds and the outer world are not separate to me. They are one and the same. The body is not a prison to escape. It is a sacred temple — Kundalini Shakti condensed into form — and everything I teach honors it as such.
So, what actually changes when Kundalini Shakti begins to move consciously in your life?
Everything!
You discover — through direct experience, not belief — that you are not your body. This might come in meditation, when awareness drops so deep that the body disappears and what remains is pure consciousness. It might come at the threshold between waking and sleep — the tandra state — when your body falls asleep but you stay awake, and suddenly you’re outside the body, fully conscious, fully alive, and made of light. It might come through the spontaneous movement of Kundalini Shakti itself — kriyas, inner sounds, visions of light — that reveal dimensions of your being you never knew existed. However it arrives, the recognition is the same: you are not this body. You are consciousness. And that recognition does not fade.
The fear of death dissolves. Not because someone convinced you, but because you’ve tasted what you are beyond the body and discovered that you are still you — still aware, still alive, only more luminous, more expanded, more free than you ever imagined possible. There is no death. There is only a crossing. And you can learn to practice that crossing now — consciously, deliberately — so that when the final threshold comes, it arrives as something you’ve already done a thousand times.
Inner peace becomes your baseline — not something you chase but something you are. Integrated. Embodied. Peace with your spiritual feet on the ground. The kind that holds while you raise your children, navigate your career, do the dishes. And your creativity, sensitivity, and capacity for love expand — not as side effects but as signs that consciousness is recognizing itself more fully through you.
You gain access to realms of awareness beyond ordinary human perception. Decades of research — from Robert Monroe’s consciousness cartography to a declassified U.S. Army Intelligence assessment that independently concluded human consciousness can project beyond the physical body — confirm what the ancient yogic tradition mapped centuries ago. Modern technologies — binaural frequencies, virtual reality, neurofeedback — are now opening new doorways into these same states, because Kundalini Shakti does not distinguish between a temple bell and a frequency generator. Both are vibration. Both are Spanda — the divine pulse of consciousness. Both can awaken what is already stirring within you.
Freedom. Not freedom from life — freedom while fully in it. Total presence, total engagement, total joy — trusting the wings of your own Kundalini Shakti. This is the promise of the Shiva Sutras: an enlightened being lives in absolute freedom.
And none of this requires you to wait. Not for years of monastic training. Not for some authority figures’ permission. Not for the perfect conditions. The perfect conditions will never arrive. The doorway is already in your body, your breath, your awareness, the threshold between waking and sleep. It is available tonight.
But the experience alone is not enough. A powerful state without integration is a firework — brilliant, brief, and gone. What I teach is a complete movement: Kundalini Shakti awakens. Direct experience opens the doorway. Contemplation reveals its meaning. Integration reshapes your reality orientation. And embodiment turns recognition into the way you actually live. That is the full path. That is what makes this different from chasing experiences and different from repeating philosophy without ever entering the states it describes.
These are not all the benefits. There are more — many more. As Kundalini Shakti deepens, the mind itself begins to reshape. New insights arise. New capacities emerge. I have experienced this directly, and I will share what I’ve learned in the weeks ahead — along with the research behind each benefit, the practices that deliver it, and the lived experience that confirms it. And the astonishment — because the Shiva Sutras say it plainly: the stages of yoga are astonishing. This is not dry theory. This is sacred adventure.
I publish a free weekly teaching on Kundalini Shakti, advanced meditation, and the direct experience of higher states of consciousness. Each issue includes practices you can begin tonight.

Teachings include: Kundalini Shakti awakening, advanced meditation, conscious out-of-body experience (OBE), the tandra state, dream yoga as practiced in Tibetan Buddhism, Nondual Shaiva Tantra, the Vijñana Bhairava, and the psychology of self-realization.
I also explore how modern technology — binaural frequencies, virtual reality, neurofeedback, and emerging consciousness science — is opening new doorways into the same states the ancient traditions have mapped for centuries. The mystics practiced from within. Technology is now approaching the same territory from the outside. Both are vibration. Both are Spanda. Both are frequencies of consciousness.

Rumi wrote about a field beyond thoughts and concepts — “I’ll meet you there.” But the field is more than that. The field is the prepared ground of your body, your mind, your emotional life, your spirit. Every practice I teach — every meditation, every threshold crossing, every moment of genuine stillness — is preparing that field for Kundalini Shakti to move freely.
And then we fly.
I’ll meet you there.
Direct experience reshapes your reality. And you can learn how to access these states of consciousness deliberately — and at will.
